This position is filled by the teacher, please do not reach out to PTA if you’re interested in becoming a Room Parent.

Each classroom needs a parent or two to organize and run the 3 classroom parties, help with Staff Appreciation Week (e.g. door decorating, gift coordination), and collect and create a class basket to donate for the Pumpkin Patch around Halloween. You will be responsible for communicating party details to the other parents, collecting money from them to cover the cost of food and activities, and organizing all food and activities for the day of the party.

Room Parents are also a very important communicator between the PTA and the classroom parents. We ask that all room parents start a #groupme chat or a text chain with parents in the class so that the PTA can get information to parents about activities or needed volunteers, and parents can ask questions. You will serve for the entire school year in this position. Again, if you are interested in serving as room parent next school year, please reach out to your student’s teacher.

Teachers can always use extra help in the classroom! Volunteering is usually on a bi-weekly or monthly basis for 1 hour at a time depending on each of the teacher’s needs. Examples of tasks include sorting and filing papers, reading with students, assisting with tablet assignments, and prepping supplies for projects to be taken home.

Most teachers will reach out around Back to School Night to ask for volunteers. If it is the middle of the school year, please email your child’s teacher to see if there are still opportunities to help out in the classroom.

Anyone volunteering on campus is required to submit TB test to the office.
