Accelerated Reader

Smith Elementary is very proud of the new and improved the Accelerated Reader program

Contact: Jennifer Walt (acceleratedreader@smithpta.org)
Over the past few years, this program has motivated our students to read while improving their comprehension.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
  1. Student reads a book.
    • Students choose their own books and read them at their own pace.
    • Accelerated Reader books can be found at: www.ARBookFind.com
You can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books. You can sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search.
  2. Student takes a quiz on the computer.
    • AR’s more than 50,000 Reading Practice Quizzes help you motivate and monitor increased reading practice.
  3. Student and teacher get Information!
    • Both the student and teacher get immediate, individualized constructive feedback to direct ongoing reading practice.
THE RESULTS:
  • Get kids excited about books
  • Provides us with reliable, objective information
  • Manage our classrooms more effectively
  • Help keep each student challenged

You can’t argue with proven research: Students perform better when parents are actively involved in the learning process. By logging onto Renaissance Home Connect, parents can access real-time information in English or Spanish to stay up to date and keep their children motivated.

Students and parents can:
