The PTA Funds many programs for Smith School.  In these times of drastic budget cuts, we are proud to say that the parents of Agnes L. Smith Elementary School have funded many enriching programs.  Here are just some of the programs sponsored by the Smith PTA.

THE YMCA OF ORANGE COUNTY AT SMITH SCHOOL

Did you know that the YMCA offers drop-in childcare? They are also open for full day programs on many of the days that Smith Elementary is closed, in addition to being open during Winter and Spring Breaks. The Smith YMCA is currently accepting winter enrollment!!! Smith YMCA is a before and after school program that includes these benefits and much more:
  • Safe and Convenient- We are a licensed facility located right here on the Smith Elementary School campus.
  • Homework Support- We have trained and qualified staff to help children with their homework.
  • Sports Clubs- where children learn the fundamentals of each sport and play group games: Flag Football, Soccer, Kickball, Frisbee Golf, Basketball, etc.
  • Indoor Clubs- Drama,Cooking, Art Animation, Still Art, Interactive Dance, Music, Brick Lab (Lego building) etc.

Kindergarten Child Care or Kindergarten Plus:
The YMCA K+ teachers conduct enrichment activities that build upon the school district kindergarten curriculum standards.

The YMCA offers a curriculum that includes Arts and Humanities, Character Development, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Homework Support, Literacy, Science and Technology, Social Competence and conflict resolution, Service learning projects and Family Events. This is a year-round program that is licensed by the state of CA. Financial Assistance is also available to those that qualify.
