Congrats Ms Spencer’s Class!

Dear Smith Families,

I can’t believe we’re almost in October already. The past couple of weeks have gone by at lightning speed.

Last week, one class reached 100% PTA membership. Their teacher, Ms Spencer, will get a $100 to put toward class reimbursement. Please join me in congratulating her and her class! Thank you, everyone, for your time and contribution to make this happen.

Here is what is happening this week:

Teachers whose classes reach 100% PTA membership by the end of day Wednesday (9/30) will be eligible to receive $100 to put toward class reimbursement. Take some time to learn what it is that we do and join the PTA today.

Thursday (10/1) is the last day to order Spirit Wear for the second round of orders. The pick-up for this round hasn’t been set, but will most likely be at the beginning of November. Keep in mind that you can also pick up your order in-store for free or have it delivered at home.

If you ordered Spirit Wear by our first deadline (9/13) and opted to have it delivered at the school, please come by to pick it up on Friday 10/2, between 11 am and 3 pm. We will also be handing out 100-mile club prizes to participants who reached milestones last year. Shout out to Susan, Spirit Wear Chair, and Amy, 100-Mile Club Chair, for their time!

Other news and updates:

As you can imagine, many of the usual PTA roles have had to evolve with current times/events. The role of Room Parent is no different. Although we are not able to come on campus, being a Room Parent is a great way to promote Teacher Appreciation, provide support for parents, and encourage school spirit virtually. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about becoming a Room Parent for your class by filling out the Interest Form.

Back to school night is Wednesday, October 7th. There will be two virtual sessions: 6-6:30 pm and 6:35-7:05 pm. Note that this has been updated from the original times circulated.

Our next PTA Association Meeting is Thursday, October 8th, at 4 pm. Join us to learn all about Smith PTA happenings and get exclusive updates live from our wonderful Principal, Ms Ashton. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and learn about what is going on at school.

Reflections entries are due Friday, October 9th. This PTA program is a great way to get the kiddos inspired about art. Note that the specific category rules have been updated on the website. Also, keep in mind that with everything being virtual this year, your art and entry form should be submitted at the same time.

Picture day has been postponed until the kiddos are back on campus in person. There will be a separate option for virtual-only kiddos.

That being said, please don’t hesitate to take your own pictures during this time to share for the yearbook. We are including distance learning photos as part of this year’s yearbook. Send a screenshot of your Zoom meetups or pictures of your students doing school work or other activities at home. Please include your kiddo(s) full name and teacher as part of your submission.

I think that’s it for now! As always, thank you so much for your time and contribution to Smith PTA.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns.

Thanks, and have a great week!
