Nominations and Elections
It is hard to believe that we need to think ahead to next year’s PTA board, but we do! According to PTA rules, we need to have our election in March. That means we need to know who is on the ballot in February. So that means we need a nominating committee to help us decide who should run for next year’s election. Would you like to be on the nominating committee? If so, please email our Parliamentarian Pam Mitchell by Friday, 12/7 to let her know so that you can be considered. She’s looking for 5 committee members and 2 alternates. The nominating committee will be elected at our December 14th PTA association meeting.
The next step is knowing who to vote for! Here’s how PTA elections work: Each office is a one-year term and officers can be re-elected one time, which makes for a total of two consecutive years that someone can serve in that position. So, even though we have some people who just might love to be re-elected, some are moving on from Smith and some might wish to take a different role, and every position is considered open until the election takes place. If you’d like to be considered for a board position, please fill out this form and drop it off at the office or email it to Pam Mitchell at email@example.com by 12/21/18.
